hearsay:-
About 1550, after The Dissolution, two bells were purchased, perhaps from one of the religious houses that had been closed. They were hung alongside the existing
"one great bell in the steeple of the said pyrshe chirche"
One of the small bells is inscribed in Latin, reading
Christ, King of Heaven, may this sound please thee
The other small bell has a triple S for Sanctus.
The great bell has probably been recast by Abraham Rudhall, being inscribed:-
"[God save Queen Anne AR 1711]"

notes:-
The building probably dates from the mid 12th century, perhaps about 1147; the south arcade of pillars, massive, with round arches, date from this period. There is no evidence of an earlier church. In 1127 the lord of the manor was Michael le Fleming, in 1180 his son Daniel was the first rector here.
The tower was added about 1350. Over the centuries there have been various additions, for example the west window and the battlements above it, in the 15th century. Some of the later changes were made by John Stonard, rector 1814-49. The sea wall was built by him.
