"Packhorse bridge. C18. Sandstone rubble. Low segmental arch with one ring of narrow rubble voussoir stones, carrying grassy track. Forms a dramatically-contrasting group with Dent Head Viaduct (qv) of the Settle to Carlisle railway line, which towers above it approx. 10m to the west."

:-
Now under the arches of a railway viaduct.
30 foot span.

Hinchcliffe, Ernest: 1994: Packhorse Bridges of England: Cicerone Press (Milnthorpe, Cumbria)

notes:-
This does not feel anything like a packhorse bridge; too wide, and shows no signs of having been widened, relatively sophisticated stonework.
