| hearsay:- | Skinburness having been destroyed by the sea between 1301 and 1303, a new town on
the marsh, Newton Arlosh, was made. In 1305 the abbot of Holme Coultram is pleading
| "that whereas that town [Skinburness] together with the way leading to it, is carried
away by the sea, the king would grant that he may have a fair and market at his town
of Kirkby John [Newton Arlosh] instead of the other place"
