| hearsay:- | A bill was put before Parliament for a line from Dalton, Cumberland, to Bolton-le-Sands
on the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway, 1845. There were alternative routes: either
crossing Lancaster Sands, Morecambe Bay, direct from Humphrey Head to Hest Bank; or
round the coast through Grange-over-Sands, across the Kent Estuary. The double proposal
was against standing orders so the bill was rejected. | |
