Dead remains of one of two pairs of larch trees, Larix decidua, which had been twisted
together when small, and grown knotted. There are several romantic tales about who
did it. A sailor and his lass: a Kendal solicitor and his wife on honeymoon, 1862:
the daughter of Lord Harrison of Arnside Tower and a friend, who each fell in love
with unsuitable young men, and:- |
