story:- |
In 1834 the tenant shepherd of Henhow Cottage (which no longer exists), met a woman
who told him she once lived there, in the 1790s. She had been got pregnant by a local
clergyman, who met her here and gave her a potion to abort the unwanted child. The
poison was too strong and killed mother as well as child; for which she was doomed
to wander here for a hundred years. |
