Hartsop Hall, on the north-western side of the Hartsop Glen; ... They have been wrought chiefly by means of adit levels, which pierce the sides of the mountains at various elevations. Extensive excavations have been made above and between these levels and considerable quantities of lead ore raised." |

In the woods above Hartsop Hall; two levels, the Pasture Beck Trials. Various records
of working, 1696 to 1954. It was operated by the Low Hartsop Mining Co from 1866 hoping
for lead. Only zinc was found, as sphalerite, zinc sulphide, ZnS, which wasn't then
wanted, so the mine closed. |
