Fletcher Christian was born at Moorland Close, Dean, SW of Cockermouth, 25 September
1764. He was a pupil at Cockermouth Free Grammar School. |

Fletcher Christian joined HMS Britannia under the command of Lieutenant William Bligh,
1786. When Captain Bligh was posted to HMS Bounty, Fletcher Christian joined him as
master's mate. |
