Ann Tyson and her husband moved from Hawkshead to Colthouse about 1770, and made a
living by boarding schoolboys. William Wordsworth lodge here when at Hawkshead school.
Its is not certain which cottage in Colthsouse was owned by the Tysons, it may have
been the present Green End Cottage.
