Aug. 26. With the sincerest pleasure we announce, that Dr. Douglas kissed hands this day on a congé d'elire being isued, recommending him to the vacant mitre of Carlisle. This is the species of promotion which all the world must applaud. The sterling worth and unassuming literary talents of the new Prelate are far beyond our eulogium, but they are universally known and admired. |
