Gentleman's Magazine 1868 part 1 p.224

candelabrum - a receptacle for the common earthenware lamp,
which has been suspended from the roof or side of the house.
Several nails have been found, portions of bits, a prick
spur, several knives, spearheads, and a mason's chisel.
There is one curious implement, which I never saw before
amongst Roman remains - an instrument five inches long,
having at one extremity a receptacle for a wooden handle,
and terminating at the other in three whirls like a modern
corkscrew. There are also two formidable insttruments, which
look uncommonly like fetter-locks."
