Mr. Ferguson, of Carlisle, gave an account of the recent
discovery there of a sculpture of the Roman period, part of
the figure possibly of a soldier in one of the auxiliary
cohorts; a torque and crescent appears round the neck, in
one hand appears to be a short sword, and in the
