London, and by John Foster, Kirkby Lonsdale, Westmorland,
8th edn 1849.
The guide book text includes - descriptions of lakes, tarns,
waterfalls, rivers, mountains, crags, antiquities, placename
elements, etc; general directions for tourists, stages,
itineraries; appendices, things to see on the way to or from
the area 'for which the author is indebted to the Penny
Magazine', notes on botany, geology, meteorology, floating
island in Derwent Water, black lead mine at Seathwaite, and
a tour to Lonsdale and the Caves.
The title page illustration is Scroggs Farm, Loughrigg,
where Jonathan Otley was born.

separately.
