hearsay:-
First written evidence dates to 1185. There was a grand meeting in 1785 which agreed 'four windows only ... the present porch to be removed to the end and a great door to be broken in the centre of the west end ...' In 1819 a wall 'five feet and a half high' was put round the churchyard - this is said to be the height at which a Herdwick sheep will hesitate.
In the church, or the churchyard? there is said to be the gravestone of John Noble, died 1772 age 114.
There were two brothers, Mark Noble born 1655 who died age 113, and John Noble born 1658 died age 114.
(I've not found the gravestone.)

hearsay:-
There is/was a sundial given by Edward Troughton, who was born at Welcome Nook, dated 1882.
